The C.H.O.I.C.E.S. Program is an intensive, high-touch intervention designed to serve Detroit
youth ages 18–24 who are directly or indirectly involved in criminal behavior, including
violence. Grounded in a trauma-informed, strengths-based framework, the program provides
individualized case management, job readiness training, and employment placement services to
support young people in making healthier life choices and breaking cycles of violence and
incarceration.
Recognizing that crime and violence are often symptoms of deeper systemic and socio-emotional
issues, C.H.O.I.C.E.S. takes a holistic approach to behavior change. The program is intentionally
designed to address key root causes—such as exposure to trauma, lack of economic opportunity,
community disinvestment, and limited access to supportive services—that disproportionately
impact young people of color in Detroit.
